WHO WE ARE 🇨🇦: Hamro Village is a Canadian social enterprise built on the values of Fair Trade, Sustainability, and Empowerment. Our business model is centered on direct partnerships with marginalized artisans, particularly women, from diverse communities. Together, we co-create beautifully handcrafted products that combine traditional techniques with modern design sensibilities, helping preserve cultural heritage while providing meaningful and sustainable income.
OUR BUSINESS MODEL: We operate on a fair trade, ethical supply chain model, ensuring artisans receive fair wages, safe working conditions, and long-term support. Our team collaborates directly with artisan groups — not intermediaries — enabling transparent, meaningful relationships and mutual growth. This hands-on model helps channel income back into communities, supporting education, health, and self-sufficiency.
OUR MARKET POSITION: Positioned at the intersection of ethical fashion, conscious consumerism, and handcrafted design, Hamro Village stands out for its authenticity and impact-driven approach. We cater to a growing market of socially aware consumers and retailers who value craftsmanship, sustainability, and stories behind the products they buy. Our pieces are not just accessories, they are expressions of culture, resilience, and ethical choices.
OUR COMPANY CULTURE: At the heart of Hamro Village is a purpose-driven culture rooted in compassion, collaboration, and respect. We believe in empowering women, preserving cultural heritage, and fostering creativity, both within our artisan network and our Canadian team. We are hands-on, values-first, and deeply committed to making trade a tool for positive change.
We truly Thank You, our valued customers for your belief in our products, your appreciation of our efforts, and your support of our dedicated and skilled artisans.
Our Founders

Kinza Lhamo
Kinza Lhamo is Co-Founder and Creative Director of Hamro Village, Kinza brings a strong focus on communication design and product development, shaping the creative direction and brand identity of the company. Her deep involvement in the Fair Trade community has given her meaningful insight into global issues such as ethical sourcing, consumer behavior, and social justice values that inform every aspect of her work.
Her design philosophy offers a modern interpretation of traditional craftsmanship, merging heritage techniques with contemporary design to create products that are both beautiful and meaningful.
Born and raised in Bhutan, Kinza spent her formative years moving across the country, including time in the culturally rich Talo Valley and Punakha, regions renowned for their intricately handcrafted Dzongs (monasteries). These early experiences nurtured her deep respect for artisanal work and cultural storytelling.
As a young adult attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, she experienced the creative life of New York City, which she calls "the big change for me." There, she immersed herself in the city’s dynamic creative scene, gaining global perspective and refining her design skills.
Today, Kinza channels her cross-cultural experiences and commitment to ethical design into Hamro Village’s mission: to empower artisans, celebrate craftsmanship, and create lasting social impact through Fair Trade.

Asutosh Upadhyay
Asutosh Upadhyay is Co-Founder of Hamro Village and brings a global perspective and a deep-rooted commitment to ethical trade and social responsibility. He understands the complexities of Fair Trade business on an international scale and leads with empathy, embracing cultural and individual diversity. His leadership bridges the gap between commerce, culture, and community empowerment, aligning ethical values with clear strategies, sustainable operations, and long-term impact.
Born in Kathmandu, Nepal, Asutosh grew up surrounded by ancient temples, diverse traditions, and the vibrant contrasts of everyday life. Witnessing both the beauty of cultural heritage and the challenges of poverty, he developed a strong sense of justice, compassion, and respect for the resilience of artisan communities. These early experiences shaped his belief that business can and should be a force for meaningful change.
A natural relationship builder, he works closely with artisans to ensure their voices and goals are reflected in every aspect of the business from product development to partnerships. His vision fosters collaboration, trust, and shared growth across artisan communities and retail networks in the Global North.
Today, Asutosh continues to lead Hamro Village with clarity and purpose — creating lasting, ethical partnerships, preserving traditional craftsmanship, and working toward a more inclusive and compassionate global economy.

Behind the Scenes
Our Project
Nepal Earthquake Recovery Initiative
Rebuilding Hope in Nepal
When disaster strikes, lives change in an instant. Homes are lost, families are separated, and the death toll rises as victims continue to suffer. On April 25, 2015, a devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, causing immense destruction. More than 8,000 lives were lost, and thousands were left homeless.
With generous support from our community, Hamro Village launched a rapid response initiative to provide basic housing for those in need. Every day, more lives were touched as people donated and shared our campaign, helping rebuild hope amid heartbreak.
Thank you for keeping the people of Nepal in your hearts and minds.
Community Health Initiative
Thank You — Straight from the Heart
Another update from Nepal: after four months since the earthquake, many villages are now facing the spread of cholera. We have increased our efforts to prevent cholera and other waterborne diseases in communities where the water supply was completely disrupted. Pipelines and tanks were destroyed, leaving families without access to clean water.
In response, Hamro Village launched a Water Tank Project, providing new water tanks and pipelines to four villages. This was made possible through the support of our community here and the dedication of our youth volunteers in Nepal.
